Indianapolis or Bust!

We recently went to Indianapolis for the weekend to spend some quality time together as a family and it was a Blessing! Jason has been working out of town lately so 'his girls' have really been missing their time with him. Why not spend the weekend in a hotel honey? You're used to that - it's like home!

Our hotel had an attached indoor waterpark...Caribbean Cove and the girls absolutely LOVED it!!  They sure did sleep well that night! We're thinking of putting an indoor waterpark in our backyard. The Insurance shouldn't be too high. Ha!

The next day we ventured to the Children's Museum (which later I found out it is known to be one of the best in the US) and I was speechless! Yes, Angie was speechless! I told Jason that I loved having children even more than I already do - I could be a kid again (or at least I felt more like I was in the right environment) and go places that I didn't get to as a child. From Fireworks of Blown Glass, Planetarium, All Aboard the Choo Choo Train, Water Clock, Dinosphere, Take me to Egypt, Playscape and Scienceworks, we created memories that we will never forget!!

(Clicking on each picture will enlarge the collages for better viewing).
From water slides, to splashing around, fun was had by all!

Arcade Room at the hotel. Addy rcvd 3 citations while
driving the car. She also won 100 tickets while playing
deal or no deal.

Fireworks of Glass. That tower is 43' tall and made entirely
out of blown glass (with minor adjustments using a steel frame).
There was also a "floating" ceiling filled with 1600 pieces of glass.
Stunning might be a word worth considering!
Dinosphere: Now You're in Their World.
From meeting a real paleontologist
(& no it wasn't Ross from Friends) that was working on real fossils;
to
acting like one at the Dino Dig (isn't she just so cute?!?),
both girls enjoyed playing with Dinosaurs. Who needs dolls?
Dolls? Barbie's here?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Attention: Now posting on job resume:
Barbie's personal secretary!!
For all you mothers with boys - this was a must see!! (or better skipped I'm sure).
The Special exhibit for a couple months was
"Barbie - The Fashion Experience".
We got to see many barbie doll outfits on display that
grandma's from around the US had sewn & designed.
There was also a backstage area
where you could pick out an outfit, go to the hair & makeup
area to then make your final appearance by walking
down the runway with flashing camera's & music.
There was also an area to play with the dolls,
which Addy probably enjoyed the best.
I guess the dinosaurs have long been forgotten.

Next was a trip to modern-day Cairo, Egypt.
Our plane touched down in Cairo to where we explored an
urban and rural home, a marketplace, a clothing store
& coffee shop. It was very interesting to learn
about their culture.  And I'm pretty sure Egypt doesn't have
life sized Polar Bear's, but I didn't know where else to
stick the pictures. ha ha!
We then had to test our superb driving skills again,
in which this time we didn't receive any citations, (YEA!)
but found ourselves whip lashed into a parking
spot. We got out, regained composure and
visited Powerful Children who
Made a Difference in the world.
Who else but Anne Frank & Ruby Bridges.

Our all time favorite spot at the Museum was the...
Playscape.
All activities were geared for children ages 6 and younger
which taught basic skills of hands on, "trouble shooting",
& playing with others.  There was a water trough maze
with fishing (caught a 7lb bass) and a sand table as well.
Addy even planted a garden.
Needless to say she put up a fight
when it was time to eat lunch!
Alivia thoroughly enjoyed (squealed) at the Babyscape as well.
She really got to explore by using her senses.
This was a VERY cool area!!
I don't even know what this thing is called,
but it was the coolest thing ever!
It had the girls' attention (and ours) for at least 30 minutes.
Pool table balls (with the help of the children)
rode this amazing maze of twist & turns,
spiral chutes, being dropped onto a "trampoline" and bouncing
into a basket, elevators & lifts - it really was eye catching!!
Then it was to the ScienceWorks area where we
gazed at fish & frogs in a real freshwater pond.
There was also an interactive watershed table for fun &
a different water table that showed how a
city's water system works.
There was also rock climbing, a construction site
with a miniature skid steer,  and a building &
digging area, etc. There were a couple other exhibits
such as the Biotechnology Center where you could learn about
plant technology, etc. but we didn't think the girls were
quite ready for that yet. Maybe next year!
Last but not least was the Wishes & Dreams area. We enjoyed a
mirror maze, a tree house, a walk-in kaleidoscope,
playhouse, ice cream parlor &carousel.
There wasn't much on the Lone Ranger and we're thinking there
probably should have been, so...
we're thinking of getting a horse & making history.
What do you think?

Overall, we had a marvelous time and priceless
memories were made!
Thanks for an amazing weekend my love! !!
