We had a wonderful meal Friday afternoon. You know the ones where you have family bonding moments at the dinner table full of love, laughter, the ones that give you the heartwarming, fuzzy feelings inside? You know, the "moment" I'm talking about? The "moment" that is bound to be shattered at any given time? Well, let's just leave the shattering to our dearest little 2 year old, whom we love dearly (bidding starts at....)
Like any typical 2 year old, there comes a time when we forget what we're supposed to do with our fork when we're done eating. The one where the temptation is just too great and we decide to drop our fork on the floor.
We've been working on table manners for awhile now and I was getting quite proud of our little girl. You know the saying "Pride commeth before the fall?" Well, because I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, I'm pretty sure she dropped her fork on accident, but since I didn't see her do it, and I'm going for mother-of-the-year award, I couldn't let this go without a little reprimanding.
With "the look" on my face and the pointer finger; "Addison, we don't throw our fork on the floor. We talked about this remember? When you're done eating you put the fork down by your plate very nicely."
As I bent down to pick up the fork I hear Jason bust out laughing.
I stood up quick...."What's so funny?"
Almost choking on his food: "Did you see what your daughter just did?"
"No, I had my back to you both, why?"
"When you were bending down picking up the fork, she put her hand on her hip, and with a scowl on her face mouthed "mmmrmrrrrmrm mrmrmrrrmr mrrrrrmrr" to you.
All proud moments were washed away.
Full speed ahead
